Citrix Summit 2011 - Day 1
The hot topic of the summit is clear…XenDesktop.
Every component be it NetScaler, Branch Repeater, Security, Cloud etc leads to a XenDesktop solution. We’ve attended several busy sessions but the XenDesktop sessions were standing room only. Citrix announced that the Citrix Branch Repeater 6.0, which is a key component to delivering XenDesktop to WAN users, will be released June 24th.
According to Citrix CEO Mark Templeton in his keynote address this is the most heavily attended Summit/Synergy event ever.
During the Key Note presentation it was announced that Citrix purchased Kaviza, creator of VDI-in-a-box. Citrix announced that in the second half of 2011 they will release a Citrix branded implementation. Kaviza's VDI-in-a-box solution allows SMBs to seamlessly implement VDI solutions. The offering is a single server that can provide up to 40 virtual desktops, expanding is as simple as powering on a second server. This solution may also be an option for VDI POCs in the future.
