Directions
Coming by train:
Staines can be reached easily by train from down town London in about 35 minutes. There is a direct connection from Waterloo Station. Look for trains in the direction of Egham (Heathrow) and Windsor. From Victoria Station transfer at Clapham Junction. Trains to Staines always leave from Clapham Junction on platform 5 or 6.
Train timetables are available on www.nationalrail.co.uk/planmyjourney.
After arriving at Staines Railway Station, cross the pedestrian bridge and descend to your left. At the bottom of the stairs, you will see a foot path right in front of you. Follow this path to the very end at High Street. Make a right and the first street on your left is Fairfield Avenue. Akibia is located in Ash House, just around the bend, which can be recognized by a statue of a man with a swan under his arm. The walk will take about 5 to 10 minutes.
Coming by plane:
Staines is close to Heathrow Airport. The best connection would be to take a taxi, but black cabs charge a large premium for small journeys. It would be cheaper to book a taxi from a private firm in advance - telephone numbers to use are:
+44 (0) 1784 46 56 56
+44 (0) 1895 44 33 33
+44 (0) 1784 25 00 00 Pentland-Woods Car & Courier
The second best is to travel to Feltham Station and take a train to Staines from there. It is only one or two stops (depending on the type of train).
When driving from Heathrow, follow the Inner Ring West to the M4. On junction 4B, follow the M25 to Exit 13. Follow the A30 to Staines. See below for further instructions.
Arriving at Gatwick Airport:
When arriving at Gatwick Airport, the Gatwick Express train leaves every fifteen minutes from platform 1 or 2. This is a non-stop to Victoria Station. You can actually buy tickets on the train, using your credit card, so don't bother standing in line or trying to figure out vending machines. The ride takes 35 minutes. For transfers to Staines, see page 1; "Coming by train".
Arriving at City Airport:
The connection to Staines is via Waterloo Station. See "Coming by train" for further instructions, but most of all; try not to travel via City Airport to begin with; the connection to Waterloo Station is very inconvenient.
Coming by Eurostar bullet train:
The Eurostar leaves from Brussels South station and is an excellent way of traveling if you want to be able to do some work, have space to move about and arrive in down town London without the hassle of planes, trains, subways, luggage checks and all that. However; Eurostar does require reservations and applies a check-in period. The tickets are more expensive than many airline tickets, except when a Saturday night is included. The travel time Brussels is about the same as by air, but from Amsterdam it is considerably longer (6 hours and 20 minutes). Eurostar arrives at Waterloo Station. For transfers to Staines, see page 1; "Coming by train".
Coming by car:
Staines is located at a junction of the A30, the A3044 and the A308 and is easy to reach from down town London as well as Heathrow Airport and other parts of the country. Take the M25, take Exit 13 and follow the A30 to Staines.
Follow the A30 until you reach a major junction of 5 roads, called the Staines Bypass. Make a right onto London Road. Fairfield Avenue is the second and third road on your right hand side (it is shaped as a half circle).
Hotels and restaurants:
There are several hotels in the Staines area and the town offers a variety of restaurants and shopping. We have a list of hotels and restaurants available on request. Mail the Akibia Office Manager at
