Course Goal

The course introduces students to the Sun L700 tape library system typically used within Sun enterprise environments. The ultimate goal of the course is to provide the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to support Sun L700 tape libraries.

Audience

The course is intended for Field Support and Technical Support personnel responsible for servicing Sun tape libraries.

Training Methodology

The course includes the following products:

  • Sun L700 Tape Library
  • Sun L180 Tape Library
  • Sun L1400 Tape Library

Course Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Properly connect the Sun tape libraries to Sun systems
  • Operate the tape libraries using the control panels
  • Disassemble and reassemble the tape libraries
  • Interpret diagnostics tests and error codes and troubleshoot the tape libraries
  • Replace Field Replaceable Units (FRUs)

Course Prerequisites

Akibia’s Sun Desktop Maintenance Course or Solaris Administration Workshop I are recommended. Equivalent Sun field experience is acceptable.
