Course Description
VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3x Scripted Provisioning, Security, and Control course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to install, secure, protect data, and properly configure servers and Virtual Machines in a complex VMware Virtualized environment.
Audience
This course is designed for IT professionals who already have the basic skills to install and maintain the VI3 Infrastructure and are ready to gain skills to protect and secure their virtual infrastructure.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Use the ESX 3.x CLI
- Use Linux commands
- Use esxcfg- commands
- Change configuration files
- Use the service command
- Set up remote logging
- Script ESX Server deployments for remote installation
- Describe default security measures implemented in a VI3 environment
- List additional security measures to protect ESX Servers, Virtual Machines, and Virtual Center Management Server
- Secure iSCSI storage
- Use VMware’s Converter product to import Virtual Servers created on other VMware and 3rd party vendors products
- Backup data using VCB
- Determine when multiple CPUs are appropriate for VMs
- Decide whether creation of sub-resource pools is beneficial
- Determine if hyperthreading is desirable
- Use the ESX 3i CLI

- Completion of VMware VI3 Infrastructure Course or equivalent knowledge
