Course Goal
Akibia’s Field Engineer Fundamentals for Sun Systems Course will prepare students to the basics of Field engineering. A general overview of the different aspects for Field Engineering on Sun systems is given including Hands-on.
Audience
This course is intended for Field Service and Support personnel.
Training Methodology
This course uses active learning techniques to involve students in their classroom learning and to develop practices that will encourage continuous self-learning. Students will meet the course goals through interactive classroom discussion, focused hands-on lab exercises, self-guided research, and scenario-based troubleshooting.
Course Scope
The course includes use of the following products:
- Sun Solaris
- SDS / Veritas
- SunVTS
- Course Content
- Upon completion, students should be able to:
- Set up a connection from a Laptop to the Server
- Understand the Startup / Boot sequence of the different Sun servers
- Understand the OBP basics and it’s function
- Perform an OS installation
- Install / uninstall system patches and packages
- Have an overview of the basic Solaris commands needed for a Field Engineer
- Know where to collect and review the Data required for troubleshooting
- Use diagnostic tools such as SunVTS for additional troubleshooting
- Understand the basics of Firmware and is able to perform a Firmware up- / down-grade
- Understand the basics of iLom / Alom and perform administration tasks
- Configure / un-configure disks in Veritas and Solstice DiskSuite
