Akibia Wins Check Point Software PURE Security Award

Akibia announced it has received the Check Point Software PURE Security Award. The award recognizes Akibia for its commitment to providing superior security solutions and its ability to provide best-in-class support to its large and growing customer base.

In recognizing Akibia, Check Point cited Akibia’s innovative capabilities in embracing cutting-edge security solutions and delivering those solutions to its customer base. In addition, Akibia was recognized because it excels as a trusted partner to Check Point and its customers, and has experienced significant growth as a Check Point partner. Akibia provides support and implementation for Check Point products within its complete set of Network and Security services, which include consulting and systems integration services related to reducing risk, ensuring compliance and securing the customer’s IT environment.

Akibia introduces two new education courses

Automating Dell Server Deployments with Altiris

This three-day, hands-on, technical course introduces IT support to all aspects of automating and managing Dell server developments with Altiris server management solutions. It puts a focus on bare metal server provisioning using Altiris products encompassing the Altiris Deployment Solution. The course will enable students to install, configure and use Altiris software and add-on modules for Dell servers. Students will gain an understanding of Altiris server solutions, software components, tools, resources, services and product positioning through lecture, classroom discussions, best practice scenarios and hands-on experience.

VMWare Virtual Infrastructure 3

This four-day course will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure and perform basic administration tasks in a complex VMWare Virtualized Environment. Students will achieve the course objectives through interactive classroom discussion, focused, hands-on lab exercises, self-guided research and trouble shooting.

Akibia Strengthens Management Team in Response to Growing Customer Demand for IT Services Worldwide

Akibia announced executive appointments that will continue to ensure consistent delivery of superior IT support services to its global clients. The company has named Scott Fiore Vice President of Global Data Center Support Operations, Phil Harris Vice President of Global Sales, and Macie Whittington Vice President of Global Channels and Alliances.

Over 20 years, Akibia has built a strong foundation for supporting its global customer base, many of which operate data centers distributed across multiple geographies. Akibia’s customer base runs mission-critical applications on Sun, HP and Dell systems that require high-availability support.

Because of its international footprint, the global focus of its client base, and the company’s commitment to meeting evolving customer needs, Akibia has aligned its executive management team to support its truly global approach to business.

In his new position, Mr. Fiore is responsible for overseeing Akibia’s data center support operations, including technical support, field engineering, IT education and logistics. Mr. Harris leads Akibia’s Direct Sales organization responsible for creating relationships with global businesses in industries such as financial services, telecommunications, and technology. Under Ms. Whittington’s leadership, the Global Channels and Alliance team partners with some of the world’s leading technology and services organizations to sell and deliver multivendor support and maintenance to their end customers.

All three executives held previous positions at Akibia. Most recently Mr. Fiore directed Akibia’s European data center support team and prior to that was director of finance in the US. As existing members of the executive management team, Mr. Harris was previously Vice President of US Sales and Ms. Whittington led the US operations group and was previously director of strategic alliances.
