RSA® Sign-On Manager 4.5 - Help Decrease
Your Costs with Increased Simplicity and Security
By Sheila Doherty, Product Marketing
Manager - RSA Security
Introducing RSA Sign-On Manager 4.5
Are you considering a single sign-on (SSO) or password management
implementation? Are end users complaining about the plethora of
passwords they must remember? Is your help desk filled with requests
for password resets? Do you see passwords written in notebooks or
even on Post-it notes stuck on computers? If you answered yes to
any of these questions then RSA® Sign-On Manager 4.5 is going
to be a critical element for your security infrastructure.
RSA Sign-On Manager 4.5, the latest version of RSA Security's award-winning
Enterprise SSO (ESSO) software, expands integration with RSA SecurID®
technology, increasing security with two-factor authentication on
the initial desktop login and simplifying user access to RSA SecurID
Ready applications. RSA Sign-On Manager 4.5 offers a complete solution
that joins ESSO, self-service emergency access and strong authentication
for Microsoft® Windows® desktops and networks.
Why is Single Sign-On important to you?
According to the 2005 RSA Security Password Management Survey, over a quarter of respondents must manage more than 13 passwords at work, and nine out of ten respondents are frustrated with the password management challenge. This frustration is leading to behaviors that could jeopardize IT security, as well as compliance initiatives. More than 60% of users write passwords on paper, on their PDA or in a file on their PC - all risky behaviors!
In addition to user frustration and increased security risks, the challenge of supporting multiple passwords also hits the bottom line for IT. The vast majority (82 percent) of those polled said that the IT department's help desk had to be involved in any password change or reminder of an existing password. With the average help desk call costing between $25 - $50 (The Burton Group), it is clear how these costs can easily skyrocket.
What's new in RSA Sign-On Manager 4.5?
RSA Sign-On Manager 4.5 provides a range of new features designed to increase security, to enhance usability, to decrease help desk costs and to simplify the deployment and administration of your password management solution. These features include:
Built-in Support for RSA SecurID technology - Organizations deploying RSA Sign-On Manager software can leverage their existing RSA SecurID infrastructure to provide strong two-factor authentication to their initial desktop login without added cost or complexity.
Single Sign-On to RSA SecurID Ready Applications
- Extends security and increases usability by adding the ability
to seamlessly logon to applications protected by RSA SecurID technology
(e.g., Microsoft Outlook® Web Access (OWA), VPN, financial systems).
Using the RSA SecurID SID800 USB-enabled authenticator in a "connected"
mode or leveraging RSA SecurID software tokens, customers may have
the one-time passcode automatically submitted to strongly-protected
applications.
Extended Self-Service Capabilities - IntelliAccess
technology now provides self-service in the event of a lost or misplaced
RSA SecurID token, enabling users to access Windows desktops, VPNs
and wireless applications when disconnected from the network, without
calling the helpdesk, saving time and money.
Integrated Desktop Client - Delivers the first integrated desktop client which marries Enterprise Single Sign-On (ESSO) and emergency access, and integrates RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows technology. This combination eases deployment and helps ensure a simple, secure and consistent end-user experience.
Simplified Deployment - Eases server installation,
supports Microsoft Active Directory® Application Mode and integrates
the RSA Sign-On Manager and RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows technology
in a single client.
How do you protect your "Keys to the Kingdom"?
As you initiate Enterprise SSO deployments, it is essential that the initial logon is secure - essentially, protecting the "keys to the kingdom." Enterprise SSO in conjunction with two-factor authentication eases the password management burden, while protecting the initial logon. RSA SecurID customers can add RSA Sign-On Manager to their environment - thereby deploying a single desktop solution that integrates RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows technology and Enterprise SSO - helping to increase security, simplify deployment and reduce total cost of ownership.
