Course Goal
The course introduces students to tape library systems typically used within Sun enterprise environments. The ultimate goal of the course is to provide the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to support Sun tape libraries.
Audience
The course is intended for Field Support and Technical Support personnel responsible for servicing Sun tape libraries.
Training Methodology
This course uses active learning to involve the student in their classroom learning and to develop practices that will encourage continuous self-learning. Students will meet the learning objectives through interactive classroom discussion, focused hands-on lab exercises, self-guided research, and scenario-based troubleshooting.
Course Scope
The course includes the following products:
- Sun L280 Tape Library/Autoloader
- Sun L20 Tape Library
- Sun L1000 Tape Library
- Sun L3500 Tape Library
Course Objectives
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- Properly connect the Sun tape libraries to Sun systems
- Use OK Prompt and Solaris commands to verify status and interact with tape libraries
- Operate the tape libraries using the control panels
- Disassemble and reassemble the tape libraries
- Interpret diagnostics tests and error codes and troubleshoot the tape libraries
- Replace Field Replaceable Units (FRUs)
Course Prerequisites
Akibia's Sun Desktop Maintenance Course or Solaris Administration Workshop I are recommended. Equivalent Sun field experience is acceptable.
