Course Goal

Our Solaris 10 Differences for Solaris Administrators Course covers the installation, operation and configuration of Solaris 10, focusing on the new features of Solaris 10 including update 4.  The emphasis is on commonly performed basic administrative tasks, understanding how the product operates, and how to configure and maintain the Solaris 10 environment.

Audience

This course is intended for system administrators and technical support personnel responsible for implementing and supporting environments using Solaris 10.  This course is not appropriate for students with no Solaris system administration background and assumes that students are comfortable with the foundation features provided by Solaris versions 8 and 9.

Training Methodology

This course uses active learning to involve students in their classroom learning and to develop practices that will encourage continuous self-learning. Students will meet the course objectives through interactive classroom discussion, focused hands-on lab exercises, self-guided research, and scenario-based troubleshooting.

Upon completion, students should be able to understand the new features of the Solaris 10 Update 4 Operating Environment, sufficient to allow the student to install the product in a production setting, and confidently configure and use the new product features.  In addition, students should be able to perform normal troubleshooting in the Solaris 10 environment.

Course Prerequisites

Familiarity with Solaris Administration 8 and or 9 is a must; this is an in-depth course and is not appropriate for inexperienced Solaris system administrators.
