Course Goal

Sun Enterprise (E10K) / Sun Fire (12K-25K) – Hardware Only is a 3-day technical training course which will prepare students to identify when and how to replace components of the E10K. Students will become familiar with System board identification and layout of components on board. In addition, this class will prepare students to identify and troubleshoot faulty components to the Field Replaceable Unit (FRU).

Audience

This course is intended for Field Service and Support personnel.

Training Methodology

This course uses active learning to involve the student in their classroom learning and to develop practices that will encourage continuous self-learning. Students will meet the learning objectives through interactive classroom discussion, focused hands-on lab exercises, self-guided research, and scenario-based troubleshooting.

The course includes the following products:

  • Sun Enterprise 10000 Server
  • Sun Fire 12K, 15K, 20K and 25K servers

Course Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Identify Sun Enterprise 10000 server's key features
  • Describe the Enterprise 10000's architecture and components
  • Remove and replace server components
  • Research component part numbers and replace faulty FRUs
  • Identify Hardware components found within the 12K-25K servers
  • Isolate system faults to the FRU
  • Research component part numbers and replace faulty FRUs

Course Prerequisites

None – although Ultra Enterprise Server Maintenance is recommended
