Course Goal

Akibia’s VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3 course will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure and perform basic administration tasks in a complex VMware Virtualized environment.

Audience

This course is designed for IT professionals who need to gain the skills necessary to install, administer, and sustain a complex Virtualized environment using VMware ESX Server 3.x and Virtual Center Server 2.x.

Training Methodology

This course uses active learning to involve the student in their classroom learning and to develop practices that will encourage continuous self-learning. Students will meet the course objectives through interactive classroom discussion, focused hands-on lab exercises, self-guided research, and troubleshooting.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and understand the role Virtualization in a computing environment
  • Install and configure ESX Server manually
  • Install and configure VirtualCenter Management Server and License Server
  • Perform administrative tasks using the webAccess interface
  • Perform administrative tasks using the Virtual Infrastructure Client interface
  • Use available Linux commands to monitor and troubleshoot the ESX Server
  • Choose from three storage options available with VI3
  • Troubleshoot faulty Virtual Machines and ESX Servers
  • Learn VMware best practices for an ESX Server 3.0 and Virtual Center2.0 environment
  • Create Virtual machines, clones, and templates
  • Deploy Virtual Machines from Templates
  • Backup Virtual Machines using VMware Snapshot
  • Deploy VMware HA and DRS
  • Implement advanced networking
